Firework Safety Tips

The 4th of July is often peak summer fun for friends and families across the U.S. While fireworks are almost always part of the celebration, they can lead to some not-so-pretty statistics. A recent report prepared by members of the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission found that 8 firework-related deaths were received, and an estimated 9,700 firework-related injuries were treated in U.S. hospitals and emergency treatment facilities in 2023. As you prepare for all the fun festivities, the USA Fire Protection team is here to help you with the most important part of your preparation – reviewing firework safety tips. Here are some tips to ensure your celebrations are lit AND safe!

Remember, the safest way to enjoy fireworks is to attend a public display conducted by professionals. These events are designed with safety in mind and offer a dazzling show without the risks associated with personal use. There are also fun alternatives to traditional fireworks, such as glow sticks, confetti poppers, or colored streamers. Regardless of your plans for this holiday, make sure that safety is the top priority.
